I'm just getting on BlogSpot for the first time in, hmmmm... how long has it been? Well, I'll blog again, someday.
Maybe today.... but only for a second.
It snowed the second snow of the season today and unlike the first snow (Dec 1st) we actually got enough to shovel. I bundled up the little girls to go and get the big kids. While they played, errr cried in the snow I shoveled enough to make a path and get out. My neighbor was out shoveling too. We love our neighbors. They are an older retired couple whose children are our age... with kids our children's age too. When I got back from picking up the kids she had shoveled our sidewalk and the lower half of the drive way I had yet to complete. See, this is why we love our neighbors and our neighborhood.
That's all. Oh, well, the girls are trying to potty train themselves and they are doing a pretty good job at it, when they make it into the potty. They run around diaperless most of the time (despite my best efforts to put a diaper on them - they just take it right off along with their pants). Madelyn has gone in the potty at least 2 times and Caitlyn twice.
We put up our tree up last night... it's going to be a VERY LONG 20 DAYS until Christmas. As of today the tree has already been knocked over and we've suffered 3 ornament fatalities.

A Sunday Walk in the Woods
On our way home from Church yesterday, Jackson asked if we could go hiking. He was clearly reminiscing about our Labor Day trip to Letchworth State Park with Grandma and Grandad, where we had hiked around the water falls they have there. I couldn't think of a good reason to say no, so I said yes. Unfortunately the Caitlyn and Madelyn's nap schedule precluded them and Amber from coming...maybe next time. You will notice from the pictures that the trees are starting to get their fall colors.

The Hidden Post
Mostly I don't post much anymore because I feel I have about ZERO to say these days. Life is full of screaming children demanding food and to be entertained. In fact, at this very moment Madelyn is covering me with empty wrappers of candy, crying and demanding more. I figure the best way to not give her more candy is to just ignore her... seems to be working.
Another reason I don't post is that I usually forget my camera and a post with out pictures is simply no fun to write and hard to remember with the cream of wheat consistency of a brain I am carting around.
Lastly, when I DO remember the camera AND to take pictures I have no place to download them. For some reason I've misplaced the cord that connects the camera to the computer. I know, I know, I could just take the USB card out and put it into the computer with one of those cool gadgets we have... but then I'd have to find it too. That's all just too much work for me.
Luckily others take pictures for me and write amazing posts for me. For example, I just found THIS hidden gem of Abygail's 4th birthday party. Don't we have great friends??!!
I'm sure there are other posts out there but I don't read blogs anymore so I'm unaware of them. Do you have a post with pictures of my kids? I'd love to see them. Please post a link in the comments, I'm sure my family (you know, the kind that doesn't live in our house) would be forever grateful that SOMEONE is documenting my kids' childhood.

Yesterday
There's been lots of Yesterdays since last I posted but this one is about a particular yesterday... maybe 2 particular yesterdays.
The first yesterday was the day before yesterday... It all starts a couple weeks ago when I entered a giveaway and won 3 tickets to the Sesame Street Body Exhibit at the science museum. We've only been to the science museum once and we liked it but didn't think that it had enough to offer our family to get a membership or even go back any time soon. That last visit was well... probably 2 years ago! The day before yesterday was the last day of the exhibit so we HAD to use the tickets and Sesame Street is the perfect age appropriate thing for my kids. It was a rainy day which made it even more perfect. The girls had slept late that day so I didn't worry about their naps too much. We picked up Aby from school and went straight to the museum where we met our friends for an afternoon of fun. The kids loved it.. all of them!
The first place we went was an area that was specifically for kids. They had a gated area for toddlers so we just stayed in that area and played with the different toys they had. The little girls really enjoyed it. The big kids like the obstacle course in the Sesame Street Exhibit (I wish this exhibit was permanent... we'd get a membership if it was). They especially liked seeing the digestive system of the body and pushing the button to hear and see the poop come out! YUCK! There was even a nose that sneezed on you!!!! All in all it was a fun day and at the end I thought to myself, "Hey, I did it! Why don't we do this more often!"
OK, on to the yesterday I had in mind when I started this post. Yesterday Aby danced the Cha Cha Slide on a football field with 500 other kids! It was so dang cute! The HeadStart program she attends had their first annual Health Fair. Jason took the afternoon off to come with us (well... I had other *responsibilities so it was mostly just he and the kids). They had a bounce house, that turned out to be free, a fire truck, police men on horses and booths to visit and pick up some free goodies. We made out with 8 toothbrushes, 3 hard back books and a handful of band aids, stickers, notepads and informational pamphlets. Jackson ran away at one point and got to be carried back to me by a FIRE WOMAN! He didn't appreciate that at the time but since, he's been in a little awe over it. All the HS kids got on the football field and showed us their moves with the teachers and administrators by dancing the Cha Cha Slide. It was a lot of fun watching those cuties dancing!
Although I was very dubious about the success of the event, afterward it was clear that it was a huge success.
I hope everyone in the area can come out next year! Don't forget your chicken**!
Eventually when I find a plug for my camera I'll up load pictures and videos of these two yesterdays. Until then... here's something to tide you over.
*I volunteered to work the BBQ that the Policy Committee was sponsoring to raise funds for the up coming year.
**It was a Chiavettas Chicken BBQ which is a local experience in and of itself. I love Chiavettas... but I don't want to see or smell or taste anymore for a LONG time!

The Poem
This is the poem that started the Ladybug theme ... actually it started with the picture on the invitation. This poem just set the theme in stone and gave additional ideas (ladybug strawberries on the cake with varying spots).

2 Little Ladies are 1 Year Old!
It would be impossible for me to try and recreate the many missed posts over the last year so I'll leave you with this slide show of our amazing girls. Caity & Mady... WE LOVE YOU!
What was found on their party invitation:
Our little bugs are oh so sweetWhat was found on their party invitation:
Two little ladies that squeal and squeak
Soon they will be 1 year old
Perhaps if we are lucky they will be so bold
As to stand and take a step or two
But, we might just have to wait another month or a few
So for this special day we will settle as a team
To eat lots of cake and even ice cream
Come on over and take part in the fun
You won't want to be the very last one
Because, Two little Ladies are turning 1
Two little bugs mean twice the fun!
Did you know that Caitlyn and Madelyn were born on Martin Luther King Day last year? I remembered it as I was going through songs to put on their special play list and found that Stevie Wonder "Happy Birthday" song.
(accompanying songs: Jason Mraz "I'm Yours"; Jack Johnson "Upside Down; Stevie Wonder "Happy Birthday"; Altered Images "Happy Birthday"; The Black Eyed Peas "I Gotta Feeling")
