Transit of Venus

I am so glad to have seen the transit of Venus yesterday. When the clouds cleared I actually became giddy with anticipation. It was just a little black spot moving ever so slowly across the sun, but knowing what it was gave a fulfilling sense of perspective. On Monday (the day before) I took Abygail and Jackson to the planetarium to see a show on the transit, hoping to prepare them to appreciate what we were going to see. Yesterday, I took the kids (except poor Madelyn who was sick) to the Buffalo Museum of Science so we could watch it from the roof, and use the telescopes they had set up. We also watched it at home with Mommy through our super cool glasses until the sun dipped behind the trees. It felt like a millennial celebration! I hope it is something the kids will remember.
