It was not too much of a surprise when the Dr. insisted on re-weighing Jackson, she was sure that the nurse had not weighed him correctly...but she did. I know that he hasn't gained and I know why - I CAN'T KEEP HIM STILL. The boy has just recently learned to sit, why? He could sit if he wanted to before but he didn't want to - he just moves and moves and moves. Even now he'll only sit for SUPER SHORT periods of time, we're talking 30 seconds MAX or when he's eating in his highchair. I am constantly chasing him up the stairs, he's climbing up the slide or super fast crawling like he's in a race to get somewhere. (up the stairs before I catch him - of course!)
So here are his stats:
Jackson Ridge at 6 months:
15 lbs
26 1/2" long
41 1/2 cm head circumference
Jackson Ridge at 9 months:
16.10 lbs (5th percentile) THAT'S BASICALLY JUST 1 POUND IN 3 MONTHS!!!
27 3/4" long (50th percentile-as has always been true)
43 1/2 cm head circumference (25th percentile-as has always been true)

Honestly, I wasn't surprised! I know he is a calorie burner. At least now I know I just have to pay extra attention to his food intake. I am supposed to up his solids (the boy already eats 1 1/2 containers of food at a sitting! I've tried to make his food like I did with Abygail but he refuses it every time I try to give it to him-he's a Gerber boy)
(This is the kid's new kitchen. A friend of Jason's kids got a new and bigger one so they gave this one to Jason. We've been so lucky here when it comes to toys and baby stuff!)
Other updates for Jackson:
His second bottom tooth cut through the gum this week and his top teeth are starting to show some signs of emergence. He's had a diaper rash that we've been fighting on and off for a month - the Dr thinks it's from teething, that's good to know.
Whenever he gets a rash or doesn't gain the weight he should I think "O, I'm such a bad Mother. If I were a good Mother he would gain more weight and wouldn't have these rashes". I have to remind myself that not everything is about ME. These things just happen sometimes.
Jackson really is such a sweet heart and we are so glad to have him in our home. He always wants to be with his sister and see what she's doing and play with her. She's starting to be more accepting of that and is sharing with him more now. It's fun to see them form their sibling relationships.

Jackson looks perfectly healthy to me. Not to worry, as you said. You are an excellent mother! I think Jason found a way to the top of the refregerator before he was a year old. He was always a climber.
ReplyDeleteOkay, first of all, it is not your duty as a mother to contribute to child obesity in America. Or baby obesity...is there even such a thing? Second, he's obviously not unhealthy since he's always on the move. It seems he's got plenty of energy! He's active, take advantage of it! Before you know it, he'll be a teenager wanting to sit around playing video games all day long. And BTW, you and Jason make cute babies! :)
ReplyDelete9 months already- that means spencer is almost nine months too! I think our babies are opposites!
ReplyDeleteDon't take it personally. Every baby is different...no matter what the charts say...you know he's perfect just the way he is! And adorable I might add!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I got a kick out of this post because my son was/is the same way. Like you, I had a little girl first and the sheer constant movement that appears to be boy is amazing isn't it? Be on the watch...Ethan was walking by the end of his 9th month!! :)
