Jason has been putting countless hours into the backyard. Let me show you some pictures. Our backyard before: the3 feet of old (some even dead) nasty thorny brush all along our back and side fence; the area covered in snow is the area that flooded with every drop of moisture; and of course, the fence with holes and trees growing in and around it:

The backyard now: the gravel has been buried in several pits to prevent future flooding; the dirt has been spread to even the ground; most of the stumps have been removed and the fence has been taken down so that once the stumps are out the new chain link can be put in; and (drum roll please) garden boxes have been put in for our garden:

Now, it's still not finished, but it's going through lots of phases and great progress. Truth be told this project is a big reason why I have not blogged recently. Jason has been spending all his daylight hours either in the yard (this whole week) or finishing his work for the semester (ended a week ago).
What more can we do? Well, just because you asked I'll tell you. The garden needs to be planted (that's my job). We have blue berry bushes that are waiting to be planted along the fence line, once the stumps are cleared (Jason's job). The dirt needs to be reseeded for grass and the new fence put in (Jason). Also there is still a huge pile of limbs and stumps that will be moved to the front yard for removal (a free service provided by the highway department - glad we pay taxes!).
I feel like I go through those same phases. But I feel like I have been in the MIA rut for a while now.
ReplyDeleteThe backyard looks so good you guys. Way to go!!! You guys can come visit and help me get a garden planted. The kids keep asking to plant seeds. I just need to do it. It is just a little overwhelming for me.
Love ya (when are we going to get to see you guys next???)
Alicia
what a huge change you have made in the back yard! It looks so good. Looks like you are on a roll. It looks soooo much better! I love the free gift of gravel and dirt.It is so nice would things work out like that.
ReplyDeleteAmber, you can not go mia!! To many people look up to you and look forward to your blog. You are so creative and such a good writer. Of course we understand that you have your hands full and that the nice days call for you to be outside. That is where you need to be before the next long winter.
Good luck with the planting! That is the fun part.
Okay, yes, we all go through blogging phases. Sometimes I have too much to write and I could spend all day blogging and sometimes I don't even want to look at the computer.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Your backyard looks awe-some! (said in a high falsetto voice) When I have a backyard, will you come do mine? :)
