First Reactions
2 weeks after the girls where born they finally came home. It was a Monday afternoon (2/2/09), 10 days ago, and it was so nice to have them in our home finally. Abygail and Jackson were both sleeping when we got home so the reaction from them is a little groggy.
Abygail: "My Sisters Are So Cute!"
Jackson: "Uh oh, crying!", "Uh oh, hat!"
Since then it's been a non stop round of feeding and sleeping. I feed them for an hour and a half then they sleep for an hour and a half before the next one is ready to start eating again...it's pretty exhausting - especially at 2am.
We learned very quickly that what we thought was enough supplies for one child did not mean it was enough for 2 children. I sent Jason out a few days after they came home to load us up on receiving blankets - I forgot how many you use a day with just one child! Unfortunately we are filling up the land fills with diapers, diapers and more diapers. I haven't made a decision on whether to cloth diaper them or not...in fact I've made very little decisions at all. We've had moms in town who do all the cooking and cleaning and even taking care of the 2 older ones, so no decision making there. I haven't even decided on whether I can keep breastfeeding them both. So if you call and I don't answer...it's probably because I haven't decided whether to answer it or not :)

Things I've Learned In The Past Week & 2 Days
1) I can carry both babies at the same time - especially in an emergency
2) Jackson and Abygail are greasers
3) Don't panic but YELL!
4) Nights are sleepless, how did I forget that?
5) People are amazing
1 and 3: We had a house FULL of smoke last week and in my panic of getting the babies to a safe place and making sure that they were OK I did what I've been thinking would be impossible - I carried them both at the same time and while running down the stairs. I did call for help but I was not in a panic so I guess I didn't speak loud enough...next time I'll be sure to YELL for help :)
2: These pictures speak for themselves.
4: I think this is self explanatory but when you think of sleepless nights with one baby it's a whole new dimension having 2. Speaking of which, one day while visiting the girls in the hospital one of the nurses said "hey, did you hear about the mom in CA that gave birth to 8 babies?" since then I've heard lots about it. I have a hard time with 2 little ones and 2 newborns and 3 adults taking care of them all (sometimes 4), I can't imagine how she will do it with 6 little ones and 8 newborns without MASSIVE amount of help - and I'm not talking about the financial side of it.
5: We've received so much help and support over the last month or more, from family and friends. It's impossible to name each person but please know that you have all been so helpful. From watching our children, making meals, helping in a pinch, doing laundry, cleaning my house and all the other everyday things - thank you, thank you, thank you! We could not have, nor can we even now, do it with out you.
